Everyday Prophets

Our recipe is no secret:
Pre-heat indoor or outdoor venue to a comfortable temperature, set up a high quality sound system, and leave the entrance open.

Ingredients:

  • Two parts live electronic dance rhythm derived from the crushed reggae, electronica, funk, hip-hop, or rock root
  • Three parts melody picked from any fruit that that is in season and irresistible
  • One cup lyrics drawn from the fountain of life
  • Several parts audience of any color, flavor, or season

  • Directions:
    1. Mix all ingredients by hand and slowly stir in colored light, sound effects, and audience.
    2. Place in venue and cook for four hours. When the roof has risen well above the venue, increase heat and continue to bake until audience is caramelized, remove from heat and allow to cool.

    Serve at any meal.
    Feeds the Universe.

    Aaron Melodica

    Everyday Prophets is dance music with depth. Take a reggae foundation and twist it with modern breakbeat, dancehall, and rock and out comes a fresh sound for a new time.

    Based in Portland Oregon, Everyday Prophets is a five-piece band that has provided conscious dance music to the Northwest since 2002. With two studio albums and one live double-disc release, the Prophets draw from nearly sixty original songs for live performances. Their new studio album "Between Two Worlds" blends their growing influences of modern electronica, hip-hop, and dancehall, with their already established reggae and rock influences. They are currently beginning to take their act beyond the Northwestern U.S.

    Aaron Green

    Vocals, Guitar, Melodica

    Aaron draws from over a decade of singing/songwriting experience in various reggae groups and solo acoustic act to develop his soothing yet raw vocal style and high energy stage performance. Has had various nicknames, including "Old Spoony", "Monkeyboy" and "Sprinting Turtle".

    Nick Green

    Electronic Drums

    Nick's beats bring a unique and truly progressive sound to Everyday Prophets. He pumps up the songs with Dancehall and roots reggae, hip hop, ska, reggaeton, and even disco breakbeats to keep the feet moving. He started banging on various things with drumsticks when hair metal was cool.

    Rick Wasserloos

    Bass Guitar

    Rick brings strong hip-hop, drum and bass, and jazz influences to the mix, offers an ever evolving sense of improvisation, and a grounding effect to their often upbeat songs. And for some reason, he likes the Red Sox.

    Kevin McKennon

    Keyboards, Vocals

    Kevin fills out the sound by pumping live B3 organ and clavinet into the rhythm, while also providing modern synthesized hooks into the high end. A gear head, as well as the only band member to own a shower with five shower-heads.

    Borfus Wallaby

    Lead Guitar, Vocals, Soundboard

    Borfus brings rock guitar as it has never been known to dance music. One moment he creates the mood with dub and electronic effects, the next he carries them into epic leads reminiscent of David Gilmour. He has been playing guitar since monkeys ruled the earth.
